Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this project!  We can't wait to dig into the submissions and put together the rest of the anthology this month.  And special thanks to the folks who swept us across the last stretch goal, so that we can make an oracle deck with Matthew Spencer inspired by the stories in the book.

If you missed the chance to up your pledge and nab the enamel pin, or if you'd like to get the oracle cards, we'll figure out a way for you to get do that soon.  

In the meantime, I hope the new year is a balm to you and yours.

Tarot Convo and New Reward: Unfettered Hexes Pin

First things first:  we've partnered with Juli and Joe from Riddle’s Tea Shoppe in order to bring you a new reward!  We were going to do it as a stretch goal, but we got too excited and can't bear the idea of not making them, so without further ado, please check out our enamel pin design:

We'll be adding a special reward tier at $35 that includes Unfettered Hexes (paperback and ebook) with the pin, but you can also just add $10 to your pledge and we'll add the pin to any physical reward level (including An Early Incantation)!  Please note that rewards at the physical Club Serpentine levels will include the pin automatically.  

Over at the Neon Hemlock website, we've shared a conversation between editor dave ring and artist Matthew Spencer, where they nerd out about tarot do three card readings for each other.  We're really excited about the prospect of bringing y'all Unfettered Hexes oracle cards if we make it to the $18,000 stretch goal!

If we make that stretch goal, all backers that include a physical book will also get a single random oracle card, and will have the option to upgrade their pledge to get the entire deck.

Halfway to Our Goal and Now Open for Submissions!

We can't wait to bring Unfettered Hexes to life.  As promised, now that we've reached the 50% mark, we are now open for general submissions.  You can find the full guidelines and the submission form here.  We look forward to reading your work.

Stretch Goals Smashed, More Writers and Submissions Reminder

Y'all are incredible.  We've now secured the funds necessary for a slew of additional art in Unfettered Hexes.  That's internal illustrations from Matt Spencer, endsheet illustrations from Frances P, and short comics from both Grace Fong and Caleb Hosalla!  Our good friends at Bookmobile are already annoyed at me trying to  figure out how to cram all this into a paperback.  I'm considering printing a handful of hardbacks so that we can do even fancier things; comment below if you think you'd like one of those!

We're also excited to announce three additions to our solicited writers!  Unfettered Hexes will now include new work from Ruth Joffre, Zin E. Rocklyn & Rasha Abdulhadi.  We can't wait to see what the three of them bring to the anthology.

Our next stretch goal at $12,250 will be a story game from Allie Boustion of Mad Pierrot Games inspired by their gm-optional game As The Worlds Ends....  And we fully expect that you'll keep us scrambling for more stretch goals after that.  More on those soon!

And if you're a writer, remember that we're open for submissions until January 15th, 2021.  We'd love to read your work.  Remember not to self-reject. <3

Funded! Stretch Goals! Other Exciting Projects!

Thanks so much y'all!  Thanks to you (and my mom who swooped in to push us over the finish line), Unfettered Hexes will become a reality.  We can't wait to work on this project and bring it to life.

Since we still have 22 days left in the campaign, we have also prepared some stretch goals for you!

The first will be at $9,250, where we'll be commissioning interior illustrations for Unfettered Hexes from artist Matthew Spencer, who you may be familiar with from the Baffling Magazine Patreon, since Matt did our first cover.  

Our second stretch goal will be at $10,000, when we'll be commissioning a short-story-in-comic-form from Grace P. Fong, the Hugo-nominated illustrator who did the cover for our last anthology, Glitter + Ashes: Queer Tales of a World That Wouldn't Die.  Grace's comic will be in the book with the other stories, and may have some interest to folks who back one of the Kickstarters below that we're highlighting...

We'd love to be put in the position of having to scramble for more stretch goals!  So please consider increasing your reward level if you'd like to help.  Possibly up to one of the levels with candles from our partner Neon Apothecary?

We'd  like to draw your attention to two other cool projects that we've backed ourselves and that you might be interested in:  Mermaids Monthly and It Gets Even Better.  Both projects feature cool queer writers and new writing to keep you company in 2021.
